Exeter Road Community Primary School – Temporary Teaching Assistant.

We are seeking a caring, flexible and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team on a temporary basis. This role is to provide one-to-one support for a pupils in our EYFS with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) profile.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to offer consistent, relational support tailored to the pupil’s individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum through one-to-one support and by following individual support plans.

• Create a safe, caring and engaging learning environment
• Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
• Work effectively within a team to maintain high standards of care and education.
• Promote safeguarding and act in accordance with school policies

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting children with ASD.
• Understands the importance of low-arousal, relationship-based approaches.
• Remains calm, patient, and responsive in challenging situations.
• Has good communication and teamwork skills.
• Can show initiative and flexibility in adapting strategies to meet a child’s changing needs.

Desirable:

• Experience in Early Years or with younger children, particularly supporting early communication and play.
• Has Level 2 or Level 3 Early years qualification
• Experience / a qualification in Makaton
• Training in relational or trauma-informed approaches (e.g. PACE, Thrive, or Nurture-based models).

This post will also include a 2.5hrs MTA contract to support over lunch times.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to offer nurturing individualised support to our youngest learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum
• Create a safe, caring and engaging learning environment
• Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
• Observe and assess children in the moment and offer extension and challenge through positive interaction, using the ShREC approach.
• Work effectively within a team to maintain high standards of care and education.
• Promote safeguarding and act in accordance with school policies

We are looking for someone who:

• Demonstrates a warm, caring and patient approach to young children
• Is flexible, reliable and understands child centred approach
• Is able to work collaboratively within a busy school environment
• Is committed to inclusive practice and supporting the needs of all learners
• Has good communication and teamwork skills.

Essential:

• Experience in Early Years or with younger children, particularly supporting early communication and play.
• Has Level 2 or Level 3 Early years qualification

Desirable:

• Has a current paediatric qualification
